The Full-Time Training: My Spiritual Greenhouse, Z.C.

My experience in the Full-Time Training in Anaheim (FTTA) can best be described by the illustration of a plant in a greenhouse. In a greenhouse a young plant receives the proper care it needs for healthy growth. The plant is in a special environment, separated from certain negative elements, to protect and prepare it to flourish in the “real world.” A greenhouse helps the plant to achieve its full potential.

Before coming to the FTTA, my Christian life was “wild” and immature. I lacked the spiritual roots to ground me in Christ. I was easily shaken and persuaded to follow the things of the world. Although I loved the Lord, I recognized my need for proper training.

I decided to come to the FTTA thinking I would receive much outward correction of my conduct and behavior. After spending two years in the training, however, I realize what I received was much more than outward improvement. The Training was a place where I was nourished, fed and cared for in a loving way. I was not trained in an outward and superficial way, rather the training helped me open to the Lord so that He could train me inwardly. The outward activities only helped me to learn how to be restricted by the Lord's life in me according to the sense of life and peace (Romans 8:6). In the Training I was also fed with the healthy Word of God. In the classes and in my study time I was able to explore the Truth in the Bible, which helped me grow to spiritually and become rooted and grounded in Christ.

I appreciate the time I spent in the training. I feel that going to the FTTA was the best decision I have made in my life. I realize that my Christian life will continue to grow and develop because the Christian life does not end after the Full-Time Training, nor does it reach its peak. The Christian life goes on, and day by day I will continue to “pursue toward the goal for the prize to which God in Christ Jesus has called me upward” (Philippians 3:14).
